The king's job is to protect his people then it doesen't matter if it is 1 or 2 kings as long as the people are safe.. but if they are gonna kill someone to just make one king how will that king feel over its people?

Yes the king is the people you care about the pawns are you a sacraficial piece no use unless you have a king

1.in my own opinion the King varies from person. the King is anything that any person feels is important enough to fight for (honor, village, girlfriend, etc.) that is why Asuma left it up to Shikamaru to figure out who, or what, the King is.

i can't help but think that naruto eventually (maybee even the next series of naruto) has the ability to control the fox chakra by improving his own body and and chakra to a point where it would essentially match the fox's to a manageable size and infuse it with his own creating a different chakra that is virtually unlimited, thus eventually becoming the superpower of the world and with this chakra even advance the shadow clones to a point to where it's his own new technique and they are actually real and can take the same amount of damage he can and also having so much chakra create a million or so of them. and because hus motives are pure and loving not destroy the world but strengthen it. i see that naruto has even begun to get through to the fox with his "ways" of naruto ness even the evil fox is seemingly becomeing "un" evil?? maybee a spin play on that even??

at this point i'm sure it would be the end of naruto

wow. thats way deep. and really good theory!!!!! i agree with you....i was thinkin along the same lines....but i couldnt quite find the right answer. but then i scrolled down and read your comment. and it hit me then! its completely what i think too. this writer is so good. haha he deserves a huge reward for writing naruto, its the best series of any show ive ever watched, honestly.

I've got a theory about the identity of "the king" Asuma refers to. I have experience analyzing this sort of thing, so hear me out. If I'm right, I actually think this is one of the best-written things in all of Naruto so far. I haven't seen past this episode 70, so none of this is spoiler.

1) We know that "the king" is what needs ultimate protection. When your king is in checkmate (when you lose your king), it's game over. The end.
2) We know that "the king" is not the Hokage.
3) Thus it wouldn't make sense for Naruto himself to be the king just because he's future hokage. Also, while everyone loves Naruto, loves the Hokage, life goes on if you lose them. The Third gave his life AND THE GAME WENT ON. This means that the Hokage is not the king because the game continues after the Hokage's loss. (The game would also continue after Naruto's loss. Furthermore, with Naruto's sacrificial attitude, I don't think it would jive with the show's mood and messages.)
4) So we have to lose something that means the end of the game. Could it be the village? Maybe, but the Fire Country would still go on (albeit in mortal jeopardy without its hidden village). Furthermore, *new shinobi* could be raised up, like the monks at the Fire Temple.
5) We know that Asuma used to think in terms of protecting "the king" either as the Hokage or the Feudal Lord. On both counts he was wrong. He left the 12 Ninja Guardians and realized the truth.
6) We know that Asuma disagreed with his father, The Third, but we are led to believe that he later was reconciled. We see the scene with him and his father playing Shougi. We are led quite firmly to believe that Asuma now agrees with his father, the Third.
7) It is reasonable therefore to believe that just like in shougi or chess, The Third - who understood "the king" - died to protect the king or to help "win the game." What did the Hokage die for? Technically the village BUT more accurately the whole Fire Country. The village itself exists for the sake of the Fire Country.
8) Think about Iruka, the Third, and others. What did the Third always talk about? What is mentioned at the Third's funeral? The Will of Fire that burns in all of us. He dies to protect it. Asuma, his son, finally recognizes it. This whole show is about the younger generation of shinobi growing up and taking responsibility for the Fire Country by cultivating the Will of Fire. That is the King. The Will of Fire that all those who dwell in the Fire Country share.

It's what keeps them fighting. It's what helps Naruto supress the Fox. It's what the Hokage always talked about and died for. It's what everyone puts themselves in harm's way - like chess pieces - for. Even when Naruto isn't protecting the Fire Country, Konoha, or even his friends directly, he puts himself in harm's way for the sake of something else, confronting and befriending complete strangers and enemies beyond power (like Orochimaru to save Sasuke) to protect the Will of Fire. Sasuke is the prime example; he appears to have given up on his old bonds. But this is all the more reason for Naruto to fight to protect the Will of Fire within Sasuke, because it appears to have gone out and Naruto wants to bring it back.

The Will of Fire in everyone, most of all the rising generation that need to protect it. Shikamaru asks Asuma what piece he (Asuma) is, and Asuma says "none" -- because he feels he betrayed the Will of Fire by fighting for a person as the king earlier. He was accidentally playing a different game and not protecting the true "King" at all. At the same time, Shikamaru seems to interpret Asuma's words differently and says, "What, you're just a sacrificial piece?" Asuma doesn't disagree, which shows that he now recognizes the true king and will sacrifice himself for it, as his father the Third once did.

Again, this is all just my theory. I haven't seen any later episodes so I assume they eventually tell us who "the King" is, and I could be totally wrong. But I still think it's a good theory; all the signs point to it... The Third is represented as the Paragon of Virtue, and he espoused the Will of Fire as the most important thing in shinobi. Chouji beating Orochimaru's henchman in the last series comes to mind... that's the Will of Fire. I feel like there are a couple clues I'm forgetting to mention, but the evidence already seems strong. Another point on the fly, think of Danzou. He's represented as a villain, but he thinks he's protecting Konoha and the Fire Country. So why a villain? Cuz he's not honoring the Will of Fire, like Sai has begun to learn. Like Asuma learned. Like Naruto, the hero of the show, has been teaching everyone all along. Like Tsunade had to learn before she could become Hokage.

I'm tellin you, that's gotta be the real King that Asuma was alluding to. From his father's mouth to his own. And if you think through everything I've said, that give you some fore-shadowing as well, if I'm right...

I think the king is the village itself coz u hav to protect it..or maybe ur friends or loved ones u have to protect...the sort of thing or person worth protecting?

the new naruto movie BONDS is great, i was lucky enough to see it when i was visting wifes family in japan, i will say two things the "boy" running around is really a girl, and naruto and sasuke fight side by side and naurto saves sasuke.

Why does everyone feel the need to complain about fillers? Just deal with it my god, it's not really in their control whether or not they show fillers, they just have to because otherwise the manga and the anime would catch up to each other and then one has to beat the other, most likely people will watch the anime more than the manga and then lots of people would lose jobs and money from the lack of people buying the manga. So please just deal with it. Also, the people that have read the manga, please stop saying stuff like "Finally Hidan and Kakuzu are here, but I won't tell you what they do..." that's enough of a spoiler already so just refrain from commenting about the manga, or at least spoilers anyway.

You cant exactly stop the fillers unless you want to catch up to the manga then have to wait for 2-3 weeks to make the new episode and sub it. So fillers are a good thing they just have to make good ones to keep people interested.

No hard feelings here, but I think that was a rather poor ending for the Sora filler. Many people didn't like the filler, and I am one of them, but I expected a very good ending. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Instead, I watched in complete astonishment as the ending turned out to be Sora running away from Konoha, off to 'meet friends' and 'travel the world.' Oh well. At least the filler is finished, right?

Now it's time for some real action. Pump it up, Hidan/Kakuzu :D

thank God that the fillers r gone, i skiped 40 eps in Naruto and str8 to shippuden cause i was bored 2 death, well i wonder if Naruto uses the Kyuubi power alot now after that incident, if he doesnt well hes basically screwed as we did see the huge comparison between Sasuke and him and Itachi n so on
