In Naruto 127 & 128, Gaara's fight against Kimimaro is about to end. Using enormous sand giant, Gaara attacks Kimimaro who is at his ultimate fighting form. I think there's no way Naruto will lenghten Sasuke's path to strength. It can't be helped that Naruto develops much quicker than that of Sasuke but like what you already said, Sasuke is a "genius" that's why finding his own new and better way of looking at the purpose of power will be more difficult considering he's blinded by his will to claim revenge. He perseveres for something in a negative way that he fails to see what lies true on his ability. One thing he's better compared to Naruto is his skills but what makes Naruto grow faster is his correct method of becoming strong and he knows when and why to become strong. Also, an idiotic side of Sasuke became evident in his inability to weigh and see the things in the correct way, that he will turn back and sacrifice his present just to try to compensate to his weakness in the past.
Sasuke is cool but not totally in this episode and the one when he decided to leave Konoha even with the efforts of Sakura to make him stay. Sasuke is character blinded by power at this stage of the series... almost the same as Orochimaru. Too stupid to sacrifice the present for the uncertainty in the future and the mistakes of the past. How awful his character has become.

what happend to Naruto as a kid and what happend to sasuke.
If we for one second now imagine that Naruto is a live show and they are living human beings.... they would be just two boys reacting on a situation diffrently. Naruto has a super Ego, and he wants to prove himself by hard work, and he refuses to let the nine tails take control of him. he's strong. but so is Sasuke, in my opinion sasuke is reacting really immature, but he's seen his whole family killed by his own brother, whitch he worshiped as a little kid.
People are borned diffrent, and people react diffrently to every kind of situation. I believe Naruto would have reacted somewhat diffrently, he wouldn't have turned to Orichimaru, BUT he would hve sworn revange on his brother..
we also have to look at the fact that Sasuke was being ignored totally by his father, Itachi was the only son the father ever knew, ever saw and appriciated. that's however sasukes side of the story, SO it's natural for Sasuke, to be longing for approval and has an urge to be the best in any kind of situation. He's jealous at Nartuo? Maybe, but I think at in the moment he decides to join Orichimaru, he wasn't thinking of Naruto as a rival, but as a friend. but as a friend that would get in the way. Naruto would slow him from getting stronger. so he Chose the "easy" way... the simple path of life.. the bad side. and he knew what he was going to.
also there's a diffrence; Sasuke is a borned "genious"... it adds something to the Ego.. Naruto knows he has to work to get approval.. it takes some time for a genious to realize that.. and even longer for them to accept it.

i had never liked sasuke even from the beginning of the series until he and naruto seemed to become closer....like around the chunin exams and after...i really thought he was pretty cool. but then when he got so jealous and envious of naruto it was like he wasnt even the same person anymore, eh? he drives me crazy! yeah. i dont like him very much anymore. gaara's freaking awesome.

Cowboy Bebop did a good job with the dubbing as well. I will always prefer Japanese with subtitles, but Cowboy Bebop did dubbed well.
